2010 Care Accolades Finalists
CrossReach are delighted to have been shortlisted as finalists in the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) prestigious Care Accolades Awards 2010 in not one but 2 categories!
The Care Accolades was launched by the SSSC in 2004 to celebrate and promote good practice and workforce development in social services. Winning an Accolade gives organizations, teams or projects recognition of their achievement and allows organizations to share best practice with other organizations.
CrossReach have been shortlisted in 2 categories:
- Partnership working – Adult Care Services
- Team of the Year in Scotland
Partnership working – Adult Care Services
Nominated for - The Oasis, Garelochhead - Argyll and Bute Council with NHS Highland and CrossReach
The Oasis is a local day care/day hospital service commissioned by the partners involved to meet the needs of older people and dementia sufferers in the Garelochhead and Rosneath area as no service was available. The service meets social and healthcare needs, using the facility as a base for the delivery of anticipatory, intermediate and long-term healthcare, preventing hospital admission and facilitating discharge.
Involving people who use the service and carers support are core components of service delivery. The next steps will move provision away from traditional ‘office-hours', to provide evening and weekend services and to implement carer-led support networks.
Team of the Year in Scotland
Nominated for - Oversteps Charter Mark Award – CrossReach Oversteps
Oversteps is a beautiful care home situated in Dornoch set in its own private grounds, overlooking Dornock beach. Oversteps is part of CrossReach, offering care to 24 very special people who use services.
There is 35 staff employed in Oversteps with everyone working extremely hard to offer the highest quality of care to the people who use the service. Staff learn new skills in an endeavor to keep improving the service for 24 much-loved clients and to increase the excellent reputation.
Our Director of Services to Older People, Marlene Smith commented on our nomination
"I am delighted that two of our services have reached this stage in these awards. Those of us in CrossReach know how good our service provision is, which is a reflection on the dedication and commitment of our staff, but to be recognized by those external to our organization is a real achievement."
Winners will be announced at a gala lunch and awards ceremony on 11th June 2010 at the MacDonald Highland Conference Centre, Aviemore, so watch this space to find out if we won!
