Group for New Fathers

Approximately 1 in 10 new fathers suffer from Post Natal Depression. At Wallace House we offer a range of support services for Men including: individual counselling, couple counselling, art therapy, infant massage groups, and telephony support.

As well as the above support we are looking to start up a pilot group specifically to support new fathers at Wallace House.

The aim of the group is to be a supportive place where new fathers can share their thoughts and feelings about being a Dad, and what it means to be a father. The hope for the group is that through support and listening, fathers come to understand the importance they can play within families and learn more about the value they add.

The group would consist of 3-5 men. The group will meet early evenings for six consecutive Wednesdays, with a view to starting at the end of March (click here for more information about the group).

Fathers frequently feel left out of the whole process of having a child. The focus is often more on the mother than the father. Fathers may feel inadequate, isolated and unsupported. If you think you know someone who would benefit from receiving support, please contact Wallace House directly.

We are constantly looking at new support services and communication tools such as Facebook and Twitter, so follow us there.
