Clashfarquhar
Clashfarquhar House overlooks Stonehaven Bay and enjoys panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. It is situated in the centre of the town close to all amenities and is on the local bus route.
Ivy Bank Cottage is situated in the grounds of Clashfarquhar House and comprises two self-contained flats and two bed-sits with a communal conservatory and laundry. Ivy Bank Cottage is designed with the more able and independent in mind. It is very comfortable and well situated for all amenities.
Accommodation
There are 20 flat-lets each offering a sitting room, bedroom, fitted kitchen (with microwave) and an en-suite bathroom (comprising toilet, wash hand basin & shower). There are bathrooms within the home for residents either requiring to bath independently or with assistance. Television and telephone points are located in each apartment.

Individual Care Plan
Each service user has an Individual Care Plan according to his or her assessed need. Key Workers discuss with their service user, their current needs recognising choice, rights, fulfilment, independence, privacy and dignity. A care plan is a working tool, short & long-term goals are applicable, changing as the residents needs change. Risk assessment will form part of the care plan.
Family Involvement
The Friends of Clashfarquhar House are drawn from the local Churches and participate in the life of the home. They visit regularly and offer support to both service users and staff.
Community Involvement
The local Churches, Rotary Club, Community Nurses, Friends Group, Schools, Round Table, Church Guilds are all involved with the Service. Rev Dr Fyfe Blair is the Chaplain.
Residential Care
There is a call-system allowing residents to request assistance twenty-four hours a day in all areas of the building.
Service users are encouraged to bring in their own possessions to make them feel at home, they may also redecorate and re-carpet their flats according to their preference.
Catering is to a very high standard and the service is flexible to meet the needs and choices of the residents, accommodating special diets.
There are several communal lounge areas, furnished to a very high standard, enabling service users to meet and enjoy activities together.
Day Care
Within the Service, and separate from the residential area, is a facility for Day Care. This has up to twelve places and operates five days a week to meet demand.
A wide range of activities and support is offered and enables the client to meet with others and enjoy a stimulating environment.
Respite Care
To enable carers to have a break or cope with unforeseen circumstances, we offer Respite Care. Respite Care also offers older people the opportunity to enjoy a holiday at Clashfarquhar on a regular basis or as a trial period prior to a permanent admission. This is in a comfortable room with en-suite shower and toilet. We aim to continue the daily routine enjoyed at home as far as possible as well as making this an opportunity for a break.
Both this service, and the Day Care service, is flexible.

Services offered include weekly visits from the Hairdresser. Domiciliary, Chiropody and Dental services also visit on a regular basis.
Newspapers are delivered daily and the local library is close by. North East libraries renew the library books three monthly in a small library at Clashfarquhar.
Transport is available to local churches.
There is a Residents’ monthly meeting and issues are drawn up for the agenda and minutes taken by staff.
Management
The Service Manager, along with the Deputy Manager, manages day-to-day care of residents and supervises staff teams.
Staff
Experienced, trained care staff that are supported by Cooks, an Administrator, Gardener/ Handyman and a team of Domestic staff providing 24-hour care staff cover. All staff receive regular training in the area of their work tasks.
The Day Care Centre is staffed by Day Care Workers. All staff work together as a team to provide a quality service to the older people in our care, to enrich and improve the quality of life.
Admission Procedure
Criteria
Anyone over the age of fifty-five may apply for tenancy of Ivy Bank Cottage. Keys are held at Clashfarquhar House and the cottage may be viewed at any time by prior arrangement. Price on application.
Costs
The cost for residential care is available on request. The Social Work Department carry out a financial assessment and you may be eligible for help with funding.
Referrals Procedure
The individual, by family, G.P., Community Nurse or Health Professional, Care Manager or Home Care Supervisor, can make referrals via a variety of sources.
Following the referral an assessment will be carried out by the Care Manager to assess suitability for Residential Care. The Service Manager and Deputy Manager (or Duty Manager in case of emergency referrals) will assess when a vacancy arises within the Home.
