Grey Cakes Campaign – Finalist in The Scottish Fundraising Awards 2017

Our Grey Cakes Campaign has been nominated as one of the finalists in The Scottish Fundraising Awards 2017, hosted by the Institute of Fundraising Scotland.

We are delighted to have been nominated in the category of Best Marketing and Communication Campaign.

The Grey Cakes Campaign has been created to encourage individuals and groups of individuals across Scotland to organise cake bake sales with a difference.

Having taken inspiration from a concept first developed by Emma Thomas, founder of The Depressed Cake Shop, the campaign focuses on making imaginatively-created cakes full of colour, with their vibrancy hidden by a uniform, dull grey covering.

The cakes symbolise what it is like for someone who is affected by mental health problems, where the fog of anxiety and depression can sometimes feel overwhelming, colouring their experience of life.

With a dual objective of raising awareness of mental health issues in Scotland and raising funds for the specialist counselling services offered by CrossReach in Scotland, the Grey Cakes campaign aims to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health by encouraging people from all ages, backgrounds and walks of life to get involved.

Our congratulations go to the other nominee in this category, Erskine, and to all the finalists.  We look forward to attending the Awards Gala Dinner on 3rd October and to celebrating all the great causes and inspiring initiatives represented.
