Kirsteen Tillman - Carer of the Year Finalist!

Kirsteen Tillman who works at Cameron House in Inverness is a finalist in the Carer of the Year Category at the Scottish Care Awards.  Kath Gough, Manager of Cameron House in Inverness nominated Kirsteen ‘because she is not only an excellent carer, but she also co-runs our Relatives’ Support Group and represents staff on our management/staff negotiating body (ACNG)’.  Kirsteen has worked as a care worker in Cameron House since leaving school 11 years ago. During this time she has demonstrated time and again her commitment to people with dementia. She attends training at every opportunity as she realises the importance of personal and professional development. Her personality is such that kath frequently assigns newly appointed staff to her for their induction as she has a passion for this area of work and is very patient and excellent at providing explanations to both residents and newly appointed staff - some of whom have never worked in a care environment before.  Another area in which Kirsteen excels is in the provision of palliative care. Her calm persona and dedication to her work is so valued by the residents and their families. She helps to make the very difficult process so much more bearable for them.

Kirsteen has been an ambassador for CrossReach (and Cameron House) at events such as the International Dementia Conference and co-running our relatives’ support group (this also promotes CrossReach indirectly as it shows that we care not only for the residents, but also for their families).
