Facilities

The Oasis Bankfoot
In January 2009 after 47 years, Chequers Care Home Pitlochry closed its doors. This was due to the Chequers physical environment being no longer suitable to provide a residential care service.
Even though this was the end of a chapter, we at CrossReach recognised that there was a need for the provision of care and support for the older adult, within the community of Rural Perthshire.
OASIS DAY CARE WAS "BORN"
Within the new Church Centre of Bankfoot we now have the facilities to provide day care for up to 10 adults daily, Monday through to Friday, working in partnership with our existing well established, Day Care Service within The Tryst Pitlochry.
Within our services we have been blessed with motivated and highly skilled members of staff.
This enables us to provide a planned programme of activities designed to promote well being through social and health related services. Our main function is to provide older adults an opportunity to get out and obtain mental and social stimulation, also giving the informal carer time to attend to their own personal needs.
Our goals focus on enriching the service user’s lives, building upon their skills, knowledge, unique abilities and strengths. In doing so they benefit from a safe and secure environment to spend their day, improvement of mental and physical health, enhanced or maintained level of independence, socialisation and peered support.
Accommodation
All accommodation is on the level with wheel chair access, which includes a large lounge, disabled toilet, showering facilities and personal kitchen.
At present, we aim to provide our service three days a week, Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday, being registered to support up to12 service users per day.
All staff within the Oasis Day Care Bankfoot aim to work to the principles that is in The National Care Standards.
Each of these principles reflects the service users recognised rights.
These are Dignity, privacy, choice, safety, realising potential, equality and diversity.
Aims & Objectives
Our aim is to support individuals in all they aspire to in order that life is fulfilling and rewarding, by:
• Maintaining a safe and comfortable environment.
• Promoting choice in all aspects of daily life by enabling the service user to make informed decisions and choices, while recognising the rights of other people to do the same.
• Offering opportunity for fulfilling pastimes, by enabling the service user to achieve to the best of their ability all they can making full use of the resources that are available.
• Maintaining dignity as the service user enjoys a full range of social relationships. The staff within the Oasis will ensure that each service user is treated with respect and dignity at all times.
• Respecting privacy by the staff members ensuring that the service users right to have privacy and their property respected whilst receiving the time and space they wish and need
• Promoting independence.
• Offering an individual, needs-led service to all within our care, regardless of gender, culture, social background or ability. In doing this the staff will ensure that each service user is treated equally and comfortable within the environment of the Oasis Day Care, which is free from harassment, bullying and discrimination.
Individual Care Plan
All service users have their own care plan drawn up in consultation with themselves by their allocated key worker. This will fully detail the extent to which their preferred way of life will be met within the service, we also try and incorporate the carer or family member who is involved in the home care package (with the permission of the service user)
Family Involvement
Staff will have a relationship based on trust characterised by dignity, respect and equality with the service users relatives and friends. If it is the wish of the service user, relatives, friends and carers are invited to our regular reviews of care.
Community Involvement
All service users will be actively encouraged and supported where possible to continue with local community interests. Should these have diminished, staff will support them to renew their former community contacts if they so wish.
With the Oasis Day care being so central within the village, some service users may be able to go shopping while with us.
