The Oasis

The Oasis is located in the Garelochead Medical Centre, McAuley Place, Garelochhead, approximately 10 minutes drive from Helensburgh.

Community Involvement

Strong links with local community, visits from the school children. Entertainers, fundraising links, volunteers for activities eg bingo, outings, Christian fellowship.



There is a Manager and two members of staff on duty at any time. The team are suitably trained and experienced in health and social care and are skilled and experienced in working with dementia sufferers. There is also an admin assistant and a cook who provides freshly prepared lunches hes,snacks and drinks.

New users to the service will be allocated a specific member of staff who will take a particular interest in ensuring the service is meeting your requirements. This worker will compile a care plan with you and will make sure that the service responds appropriately to your needs. The staff member will also ensure that your care plan is reviewed regularly. 

How do I get a place?

Service users will usually be aged 65 years and over and reside in the Roseneath, Arrochar, Rhu and Helensburgh.

Prospective service users will undergo a Single Shared Assessment that outlines their suitability for and possible benefits of accessing the service.

Service can be provided for people who are assessed as needing rehabilitation services, dementia day-care and personal and social services.

Referrals for the service will normally come from a Social Work Care Manager or a health care professional. You will be fully consulted about the assessment.

Referrals will be considered by the Manager and places allocated on a priority needs basis.

Individuals who meet the criterea can make a self referral and this will usually be followed up by an assessment.

In line with national health promotion guidelines, smoking is not permitted in the building.

How much does it cost?

If you are referred through a Healthcare or Social Work Care Manager you will be assessed by them as to how much it will cost. There is a small charge of £3.50 per day which the Oasis charge which covers lunch, snacks and drinks.

Service users can make private arrangements to use the service (if they meet eligibility criterea). Charges for this are available from the Manager.

How do I get to the Oasis?

If you need it, transport will be provided for you. You can also make your own way if you are able to.

Monitoring Quality

The partners that manage The Oasis are committed to continuously improving the quality of the service. We will carry out an annual review to ensure that we are running a service in keeping with our stated aims. Your participation in the process, by offering your comments and suggestions, would be greatly appreciated.

If you feel that we fall short of meeting your expectations in any aspect of the service you can make a complaint - please do this via the Manager in the first instance.
