PHILOSOPHY OF CARE
The philosophy of care that we apply in Rubislaw Park is the belief that we be developing an atmosphere of individual care and attention for our service users, this will contribute to their well-being and comfort so that they are enabled to enjoy life to their fullest potential.
Our Mission Statement:
In Christ`s name we seek to retain and regain the highest quality of life which each individual is capable of experiencing at any given time.
Rubislaw Park is a new purpose-built two-storey care home set in attractive gardens in the west end of Aberdeen. All our bedrooms are spacious and we also have:
- Large and attractive gardens with landscaped flower beds and lawns which have easy access and are secure
- Single rooms all with en-suite and shower
- Two lifts
- All rooms are suitable for wheelchair users

- A wide variety of activities
We are able to access the following additional services for residents on request:
- Chiropodist
- Optician
- Dentist
- Physiotherapy
- Hairdresser
We encourage residents to bring photographs, favourite ornaments or other treasured keepsakes or small items of furniture that help to personalise their room and makes it feel more like “home”. In addition all residents are able to lock their rooms if they so wish
Our home offers an in-house laundry service
Admission:
Our Manager or a Senior Member of staff will assess all residents prior to admission. Once this assessment has taken place and all parties agree that the home can meet the assessed needs, an admission will be arranged subject to appropriate funds being in place.
INTRODUCTION TO THE TEAM:
Our Unit Manager, Mrs Margaret McEwan, has worked in the care sector for over 30 years. She is committed to providing high quality services for all our service users.
We have three Deputy Managers who provide a supporting role and lead the delivery of care reporting to the Unit Manager.
Our Administrator covers much of the `behind the scenes` work which contributes to the efficient running of the care home and provides invaluable support to the Unit Manager.
There are Senior Care Staff who organise the day-to-day care for residents as well as supervising staff within their teams.
Our team of qualified care workers provide care and support to our service users. Care Assistants are active in performing many of the tasks relating to individuals care.
Our housekeeping staff work hard to maintain a clean and fresh environment for service users to enjoy. The Chef and kitchen staff are skilled and trained in the safe and hygienic preparation of nutritional and appetising meals.
SERVICE USER FINANCES:
We cannot accept responsibility for any personal monies, however, we are willing to discuss and advise if assistance is required.
OUR REGISTRATION:
Rubislaw Park is registered with Social Care and Social Work Improvement Scotland - SCSWIS
MEALS AND MEAL TIMES:
We consider it very important for service users to enjoy their meals, not only from the point of view of having a wholesome and nourishing diet, but also with regard to socialising with other service users during mealtimes. However, if sometimes a service user would prefer to have their meal in their own room, this can be arranged.
PETS AND RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES:
In general, pets are welcome, however, we do have to put some restrictions on the type and number of pets that service users would wish to bring into the care home.
We consider it very important for our service users to have available a range of suitable activities from which to choose from. We encourage and help them to find activities in which they would like to participate.
The Friends of Rubislaw Park are a group of local volunteers who provide recreational activities and a befriending service to the service users.
RELIGIOUS SERVICES:
Particular religious beliefs and practices will be respected. If you are no longer able to go to your normal place of worship, it can be arranged for your minister or priest to visit you privately. Alternatively, you may wish to participate in the church services that are held regularly in Rubislaw Park.
COSTS:
Costs can be obtained by contacting the Unit Manager or Administrator at Rubislaw Park.
