Staff Awards 2017

Staff Awards 2017

Viv Dickenson expressed her delight that her first formal duty in her role as CEO was to recognise the incredible commitment, diversity and skill of CrossReach’s staff and volunteers.

On opening the service of celebration today [01 June 2017] she conveyed her gratitude for the passion for and pursuit of excellence in the support offered to the people who use CrossReach services.

The distinguished and invited guests also expressed their sense of honour at being invited to attend and participate in the event:

  • Rt Rev Dr Derek Browning, The Moderator of The General Assembly of The Church of Scotland
  • Adrian Murtagh, Head of Development, Volunteer Scotland
  • Sally Bonnar, Convener of the Council of Assembly
  • Bill Steele, Convener of the Social Care Council
  • Mary Ford, Social Care Council member.

Throughout the event, the awards presented were interspersed with presentations from the guest speakers, the Convener and from the members of the Corporate and Senior Management Teams.

CrossReach’s commitment to excellence was underscored as the services that had received Customer Service Excellence awards were recognised.

Recognition of Staff Achievements was made by Directors Calum Murray and Allan Logan.

Guest Speaker Adrian Murtagh noted this was the first time he had attended an event where both employees and volunteers were recognised.  Commending this visible demonstration of the value CrossReach places on the individuals who volunteer for the organisation, he passionately addressed the gathering regarding the importance of building positive relationships between staff and volunteers.

Bill Steel expressed his gratitude for the commitment of the staff who were recognised for their long service to CrossReach:

  • 17 members of staff for 20 years
  • 5 members of staff for 30 years

and following the presentations of this year’s CrossReach Awards:

  • Ian Manson - Adult Learner Of The Year Award – Janis Sinclair, CrossReach Counselling: Lothians
  • Ian Manson - Award for Excellence – Effective Communication Group, Learning Disabilities Services
  • Volunteer of the year – Ann Adams, Whiteinch Move On Project, Glasgow
  • Employee of the Year – Elaine Waugh, Perth Prison Visitor’s Support and Advice Centre

Rt Rev Dr Derek Browning encouraged the gathering through his address encapsulating the heart of CrossReach for the people of Scotland “still there is room…”

Our special thanks goes to our generous sponsors of this event: Demi’s Flowers, Portobello
