Very Rev Dr Shaw Paterson

Shaw was ordained in 1991 into his first Charge and has been minister in the Strathaven area ever since. He has served the church on numerous boards and committees and in 2024 was appointed as Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland. During his Moderatorial year he visited many CrossReach services and was vocal about fair pay within the social care sector. He has frequently spoken about the dedication and commitment of the CrossReach team and the vital work they do.

In his local community Shaw has initiated support groups for those with memory loss, created space for secondary school age students at lunchtime and developed the congregation’s commitment to food banks.

He currently is a lay adviser and examiner within the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons (Glasgow).

Shaw is married to Christine and they have three grown up children.
