In this post you will be assisting the Head of Estates, Procurement and Health and Safety with the development, management and effective implementation of the organisation’s long-term planned maintenance programme and oversee the day-to-day maintenance requirements of the Estates.

What do you need?  An HND/HNC in Building Surveying or equivalent technical qualification or equivalent demonstrable experience for this role.  Experience in building, contract administration and project control plus a thorough knowledge of construction techniques, building standards, CDM and relevant Health & Safety regulations.  As well as being proficient in using Microsoft Office you will also have experience in Computer Aided Design techniques.

Main Function

To assist the Business Partner Operational Projects and Developments in the development, management and effective implementation of the organisation’s long-term planned maintenance programme and to oversee the day-to-day maintenance requirements of the buildings and plant that CrossReach require.

Main Duties

  1. To manage building alterations and refurbishment projects and to ensure that the work is carried out in accordance with the brief and within budget.
  1. Assist in the preparation of schedules of accommodation, feasibility studies, technical specifications and option appraisals.
  1. Prepare specifications and contract documentation for planned maintenance schemes.
  1. Liaise with appropriate authorities (e.g. planning and building control) when producing documentation for statutory approval.
  1. Maintain and update safety files, asbestos registers and other relevant paper and electronic systems that are used.
  1. Analyse and report on tenders received, in conjunction with other members of the Maintenance Team.
  1. Monitor contracts, financially and technically, throughout their duration, and to prepare valuations and final accounts with contractors for submission to and approval by the Business Partner Operational Projects and Developments.
  1. Assist the Business Partner Operational Projects and Developments        in the preparation and delivery of long term and cyclical maintenance programmes.
  1. Survey buildings to ensure compliance with statutory standards and current legislation, and carry out condition appraisals of properties on a five-year cycle.
  1. Ensure repairs and maintenance works meet environmental, legal and regulatory standards.
  1. Obtain feedback from Services and clients, reporting on the performance of the contractors once works is completed.
  1. To be aware of Health and Safety issues and to take reasonable precautions to ensure the health and safety of staff and service users.
  1. To provide technical advice to Unit Managers on day-to-day maintenance and repair issues.
  1. To undertake other duties as may reasonably fall within the parameters of the post.
  1. Have respect for all aspects of Christian worship.
  1. Facilitate Service Users to attend Christian worship (or worship of choice as required by the role).

Qualifications

Essential:

  • HND/HNC in Building Surveying or equivalent technical qualification.  If no qualification is held, applicant must be able to demonstrate relevant skills and experience for this role.
  • Full clean driving licence.

Skills and Abilities

Essential:

  • Experience in Computer-Aided Design techniques and preparing building warrant applications and other such submissions to regulatory bodies.
  • At least 3-5 years experience in building, contract administration and project control with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • A thorough knowledge of construction techniques, building standards, CDM and relevant Health and Safety regulations.
  • Able to work with a team and manage own workload.
