Main Function

This is a general finance role, supporting the Finance Manager, to ensure:

• that the banking and finance systems within the organisation operate effectively and efficiently
• the accurate, complete and timely production of monthly management accounts

Additionally, there will be ad hoc project work for the Finance Business Partners.

This role will be ideal for someone who already has some level of accountancy knowledge or experience who wants to put what they have learnt so far into practice and develop their skills/qualifications further.

Support will be provided to help with the AAT professional qualification or similar.

Main Duties

1. Calculate and prepare month end journals for: accruals and prepayments (particularly utilities), internal recharges, depreciation and other areas. 

2. Prepare month end reconciliations of bank accounts and balance sheet accounts (investigating and correcting differences as required).

3. Manage process of running, checking and distributing monthly management accounts on a timely basis.

4. Maintain the fixed asset register and regularly monitor and review other areas as directed.

5. Carry out administration on bank accounts and credit cards (updating signatories, managing standing orders and direct debits, requesting new cards, removing leavers etc). 

6. Database administration on the Finance Workflow System (setting up and removing users, modifying access levels etc).

7. Collecting and reporting information for annual external audit.

8. Liaise with managers and administrators in operational services, responding to queries from them and collecting information required for finance purposes.

9. Ad hoc projects for Finance Manager, Financial Controller, Finance Business Partners (will require advanced Excel skills, business understanding, familiarity with Q&A report-writing tool).

10. Undertake any other duties as required to support the Finance Team (will include working across other areas such as income and accounts payable to provide holiday cover etc).

Qualifications

Relevant accounting qualification or actively studying towards – AAT, Higher Education (eg HNC, HND), A Level, Advanced Higher or equivalent.

Skills and Abilities

Essential:

• Relevant experience within a finance department
• Excellent Microsoft Office experience, particularly Excel VLOOKUPs and Pivot Tables
• Positive and friendly customer service attitude
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent attention to detail
• A team player

 

Desirable:

• Knowledge of Sun Accounting Systems or similar and report writing tools
