This role will be based at the Tom Allan Centre and will include remote working.
CrossReach Counselling provides a wide range of therapeutic support and counselling. Anyone can contact us for therapeutic support for any life challenge they may be facing. We have specialist expertise in working with children and young people, those affected by substance use and with those expecting a baby or with an infant up to two years old. Support is delivered from our premises across Scotland as well as over the phone and online.
As our national Counselling Training Co-ordinator you will ensure all staff, volunteers and external participants have access to learning and development opportunities underpinned by the highest clinical standards relating to counselling, mental health and wellbeing. The main focus of the role will be on developing and co-ordinating our training programme timetable of professional, ethical and quality driven programmes including COSCA recognised training in Counselling Skills, Counselling Supervision and Counselling.
What do I need? Experience of programme management/business administration/training and development. The ability to manage competing priorities, plan events and build and maintain relationships with customer is critical, as is the development of robust audit & evaluation processes.
This is initially a temporary role for a one year period.
Salary is pro rata of 38.5 hours per week.
Main Function
Working with staff from across our national counselling services, you will ensure that all staff, volunteers and external participants are trained to the highest clinical standards relating to counselling, mental health and wellbeing.
The main focus of the role will be on developing and co-ordinating our existing training programme of professional, ethical and quality driven courses, including the delivery of the developed COSCA Counselling Skills and Counselling Supervision Certificates . Through the marketing & delivery of our training programmes we will develop a sustainable income which will allow us to offer more individual counselling sessions to those most in need.
You will also contribute to raising the profile of CrossReach’s services, with key stakeholders. This will involve developing and maintaining a network of relationships with organisations who may benefit from our knowledge and expertise.
Main Duties
- In collaboration with Head of Service and Managing Co-Ordinators to schedule, develop, implement and coordinate a flexible training programme calendar and the associated resources required, to ensure safe and effective training course delivery, whether face to face or online.
- Liaise with the appropriate external validator(s), ensure all relevant training courses are accurately monitored, recorded and meet all criteria for internal and external validation. This will also include all course administration, i.e. website administration, attendance and assignment records.
- Optimise the utilisation of resources (people and locations) to achieve the most effective and financially viable training delivery.
- In collaboration with CrossReach Counselling management team, ensure that appropriately skilled and qualified trainers are recruited and coordinated to provide the best training service to course participants and funders.
- Working in collaboration with the trainers, ensure that all training materials are produced and issued on time, rooms booked and programmes arranged in a way that enhances the reputation of CrossReach Counselling training.
- Act as the first point of contact for general training enquiries, filtering routine matters to appropriate parties and follow up to ensure any action needed has been taken.
- Ensure the timely invoicing of training programmes alongside relevant payments for services in line with CrossReach finance systems.
- Take initiative to resolve low level problems within policies and guidelines.
- In collaboration with Counselling Managers, to support future income generation, nurture and develop mutually beneficial relationships with key stakeholders by scheduling and delivering high quality training courses suited to their particular need.
- Develop a carry forward system for key activities and action plans so that progress on key objectives is monitored and reported on at the appropriate points.
- Conduct regular evaluation, audit and training needs analysis for both internal & external stakeholders.
- Ensure the effective collation and review of all relevant information to support both existing and new funding opportunities. Ensure compliance with GDPR regarding data held and information handled in connection with the service provided and maintain safe systems. Develop and maintain a network of relevant third party, external organisations in order to share experiences and learn from best practice. Support the development of new business cases that clearly articulate the opportunity for change and/or investment.
- Demonstrate and share Christian love and support, including sharing with others the leading of worship in accordance with CrossReach policy and by ensuring all staff meetings are opened with prayer and Bible reading.
Qualifications
Essential:
- Educated to at least SCQF level 6 in a relevant disciplines including SCQF level 6 (Scottish Higher) in English.
- HND/HNC (or equivalent) in Business Administration.
