Every day at Allarton in Glasgow, our team provides support and accommodation for adults experiencing mental health issues. We work with them to plan, shape and deliver the support they need which may include attending activities in the wider community or within the service on a group or a one-to-one basis.
As well as keeping the building clean and tidy you may also be asked to make cleaning equipment and materials available to residents to enable them to look after their laundry and living space. It can be pretty challenging at times but working as part of our support team, your support will definitely make the difference.
What do you need? No direct experience is required. It’s more a positive approach and a genuine interest in helping others in a practical way.
Salary is pro rata of 38.5 hours per week.

Main Function
The Domestic Assistant’s role is, together with others, to keep the building in a clean, tidy and, where necessary, hygienic state.
The Domestic Assistant will report to the senior person on duty who is responsible for the ordering of cleaning materials and the distribution of duties.
If the Domestic Assistant is experiencing any difficulties in his/her working life then these should, in the first instance, be reported to the Unit Manager.
The Domestic Assistant will be required to work co-operatively with his/her colleagues during times of staff shortage or illness.
In an effort to provide an equitable distribution of work, cleaning duties may be rotated from time to time or varied at the discretion of the Unit Manager.
The Domestic Assistant through the normal keyworker, line management resident negotiation, will be required to make available to residents the cleaning equipment and materials which will enable and assist self-determination within residents’ care plans and in agreement and consultation with the staff encourage service user participation in looking after the unit.
The Domestic Assistant will be required to supervise and help train others in the house in cleaning duties.
The Domestic Assistant will be required to participate in staff meetings and in training activities as required.
Personal
The post holder has frequent contact with residents and their key workers and a warm friendly manner is essential.
You will need to have respect for all aspects of Christian worship.
This post requires you to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme and undertake the necessary vetting checks.
Skills and Abilities
The postholder must possess basic computer literacy skills including use of Microsoft Office and the internet.
