This is a temporary post to provide maternity leave cover.
Main Function
To ensure that all aspects of ‘Financial Accounting’ are well managed
Main Duties
- To reconcile, and correct, balance sheet codes on a monthly basis
- To account for restricted funds, including researching restrictions and producing reports for different levels of management
- To coordinate the relationship with the ‘external’ and ‘internal’ auditors, and to lead on preparation for the annual statutory audit
- To coordinate the preparation of the annual budget, and to develop budget preparation systems
- To oversee Treasury Management, including coordinating the relationship with the bank, and reporting on cash flows
- To coordinate production of monthly management accounts
- To prepare accounts for the trading subsidiary (CrossReach Trading Ltd)
- To prepare quarterly VAT returns
- To prepare statistical returns
- To develop policies & procedures for Financial Accounting
- To ensure that systems in place comply with current audit practices
- To ensure that financial records are appropriately and securely kept
- To understand, and be involved in, the development of the strategic direction of the organisation.
- To manage the Finance Manager
- To work in partnership with Finance Business Partners, and other staff, to provide specialist financial support and information as required and to share specialist knowledge as appropriate
- To be the ‘Finance Business Partner’ for Head Office based departments (Estates, Business Development, IT, CEO)
- As a Finance Business Partner work with the Head of Service to research the wider financial context and identify developments and changes which will have an impact on service delivery.
- To keep up to date and ensure compliance with financial practices including SORP (Statement of recommended practice).
GENERAL DUTIES
- To undertake duties in relation to CrossReach Policies and Procedures such as Complaints, Discipline & Grievance, Health & Safety and Safeguarding as required.
- To prepare and present reports for the Council Committees, Corporate Management Team and Senior Management Team as requested by the CEO or Director.
- To effectively manage your area of responsibility ensuring that regular meetings, supervision and appraisal are in place.
- To be a member of the Senior Management Team, undertaking relevant tasks and responsibilities within and on behalf of the group.
- To promote Health & Safety awareness and compliance throughout the area of responsibility.
- To undertake such other duties as may be required by the Director.
- To demonstrate and share Christian love and support including by leading of worship in accordance with CrossReach policy, and by ensuring all staff meetings are opened with prayer and Bible reading.

- To be a qualified accountant (CCAB)

- Experience working in similar role, or in practice.
- Strong Excel skills

- Experience of both manual & computerised book-keeping
- Experience of developing financial accounting packages
- Experience of SUN accounts
- Strong financial modelling skills
