Main Function
Playing a proactive role and positively impact on the delivery of Social Care by developing creative solutions and driving the implementation of effective and efficient people practices that are in line with CrossReach Christian Ethos and Values.
Main Duties
- To support the HR and OD Director in delivery the HR and OD Strategy.
- Play a proactive and positive role within the HR and OD section.
- To develop an in depth knowledge of the Operational area, attend regular meetings and keep abreast of current developments and problems.
- To work in partnership with the Operational Head of Service to determine ways of supporting and developing services, including monitoring HR statistics e.g. absence management, discipline, grievance and capability, as well as delivering training as appropriate to improve identified issues.
- To specify requirements of the HR system and to liaise with the QCI, Systems and Analytics to ensure the system meets the needs of the organisation.
- To be involved in business and planning meetings in partnership with the Heads of Service and to negotiate with key stakeholders and support staff including colleagues in Human Resources and Organisational Development, to ensure agreed outcomes and timescales are achieved.
- Bring forward strategic solutions to people related issues supported by sound business plans, liaising appropriately with colleagues.
- To improve communication, business protocols and business efficiency through the organisation and to share specialist knowledge as appropriate.
- To ensure through workforce planning and forecasting that the future staffing needs are identified and met. Within this responsible for a range of activities from communicating to the relevant sections and facilitating the delivery to developing strategic solutions.
- To provide regular reports to the HR & OD Director and Operations Director including MI highlighting performance on the key HR policies and practices.
- To take an active part in quarterly review meetings facilitated by the Head of Service for HR Operations review general practice, learning from experience in the area of employee relations.
- To ensure pragmatic and high quality advice is provided from the HR Operations section in all aspects of Employee Relations through regular review.
- To ensure that changes to legislation or case law are effectively and timeously incorporated into advice given so that CrossReach meets all relevant legislative requirements.
- To identify gaps or improvements which can be made in HR policy and guidance to support operational performance.
- To provide back up for HR advice escalation.
- To carry a case load as per the HR & OD delegated authority protocol or as required by the Director of HR & OD.
- To support the development of Managers and to provide back up for HR training in area of responsibility.
- To ensure through effective monitoring that appropriate coaching, advice and guidance is provided to Managers on all aspects of HR including discipline and grievance, attendance and conditions of service etc.
- To develop and agree sound systems and processes to ensure the delivery of quality, up to date, pragmatic, consistent and effective employee relations advice to the relevant Operational area.
- To work collaboratively with the other Business Partners in the HR & OD section and to undertake appropriate actions as agreed.
- To take a lead role in the employee relations forums such as the ACNG, EIS and other bodies, as necessary.
- To work collaboratively with all Business Partners and Heads of Service for the benefit of the whole organisation.
- To demonstrate and share Christian love and support including sharing with others the leading of worship in accordance with CrossReach policy and by ensuring all staff meetings are opened with prayer and Bible reading.
Qualifications
Essential
- Relevant Degree or diploma or experience of working at a senior level in a generalist HR role and experience of leading delivery of HR & OD Services.
- Full Chartered CIPD membership or be working towards full Chartered CIPD membership.

Skills and Abilities
Essential
- Experience operating successfully in a Business Partner role, influencing and effectively gaining buy in for HR initiatives.
- Experience of leading delivery of HR & OD services.
- To work flexibly and confidently to give legally compliant advice whilst understanding organisational challenges.
- Clean driving licence and use of car for business miles (plus necessary insurance for business use).
- Basic computer literacy skills including use of Microsoft Office and the internet.
