The Managing Co-Ordinator looks after The Mallard, The Garratt, G02 and Daisy Chain in Glasgow where we provide a friendly, welcoming and safe environment for children and young people who need support.  Our focus is on building their self-esteem and confidence, and in doing so we can be rewarded with something special – a smile that says it all. 

 

Surrounding this child-focused approach are the ideas, nurture and commitment of our team.  Now’s your opportunity to join us working in both our residential and community services with an identified group of young people.  As you’ll work with parents and guardians too, strong communication skills are really important, along with an understanding of some of the issues they may be facing.

As part of our close-knit and supportive team you will effectively manage the running of the units, leading and directing the service leaders.  Quite simply, nothing gets in the way of us making sure that every child enjoys the best possible care and reaches their full potential.  To succeed you’ll have experience of working with children, particularly those with a learning disability and ideally be qualified to HNC level with SVQ4 in Health and Social Care. or willing to work towards these qualifications.

Main Function

Responsible for the overall management and development of services to children with disabilities, early years and family support.

Support and develop innovative practice to meet the needs of children, young people, families and communities using the services.

Seek opportunities to work collaboratively and in partnership with Local Authority, third sector and community organisations, where appropriate.

To implement and uphold the aims, objectives, policies and procedures of CrossReach and Children & Family Services.

Be responsible for achieving the highest professional standards of social care practice and for ensuring that CrossReach aims, objectives and quality standards are met and maintained.

Main Duties

SHARED ATTRIBUTES AND APPROACH

You will be expected to work to the highest professional standards of those working within the Children’s workforce and adhere to professional codes of practice of SSSC, GTCS and other relevant professional bodies; ensuring that the aims and objectives of Crossreach and those specific to Children & Family Services and the section within which you are based are met

SERVICE DELIVERY

  1. Ensure the principles of Playfulness Acceptance Curiosity Empathy [P.A.C.E.] is embedded in everyday interactions between all.
  2. To provide leadership across the services which is relational and supportive.
  3. To ensure effective collaborative working and good relationships with relevant stakeholders.
  4. To develop the strategic direction of the services, working in conjunction with the Children and Families senior management team and in line with the Children and Families strategy
  5. Ensure that outcome monitoring is in place across all services and to contribute provide information as required for reports, funding, etc.

PLANNING & DEVELOPMENT

  1. To assist the Head of service in the regular review of services and planning, ensuring priorities outlined are met within timescales allocated.
  2. To identify opportunities for service development and collaborative working with statutory authorities and other third sector organisations that will achieve and enhance outcomes for children, young people and their families.
  3. As part of the staff team to play an active part in the formulation of a yearly plan.  Thereafter to be committed to working towards meeting the objectives identified.

QUALITY ASSURANCE

  1. To ensure that appropriate Quality Assurance systems are in place in order to ensure continuous improvement and consistently good outcomes for children and their families.
  2. To ensure that services meet the standards required by the Care Inspectorate and the relevant regulatory framework.
  3. Ensure that all services are delivered in accordance with CrossReach Policies and Procedures.

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

  1. To register with the Scottish Social Services Council and be committed to ongoing professional development in line with the requirements of the SSSC Codes of Practice.
  1. To participate in staff development programme and attend meetings, training courses and seminars as required.
  1. To maintain professional standards and meet minimum standards required for SSSC registration.

FINANCIAL AND ADMINISTRATIVE MANAGEMENT

  1. To assist the Head of Service as required in the preparation, management and monitoring of the annual operating budget,
  2. To ensure daily management of operational budget.
  3. To ensure that client records are maintained in line with CrossReach policies.
  4. To contribute to the maintenance of systems, to gather, record, and store data/information.
  5. To be responsible for monitoring the quality and accuracy of reporting and recording of information contained within.
  6. To monitor and ensure that all communication is accurate and timely.

HUMAN RESOURCES

  1. To assist in the recruitment and selection of staff as required.
  2. To be responsible for the direct supervision of Service Leader and Team Leaders.
  3. To ensure that CrossReach HR policies are implemented and understood by all staff and hold responsibility within delegated powers for the discipline of staff when appropriate.
  4. To undertake and facilitate the assessment of staff for SVQs and/or the supervision of students through Practice Teaching.
  5. To be responsible for the allocation of work carried out by team members.
  6. To assist in induction training and ongoing training for the team and be accountable to the Head of Service for the training and development of team members.
  7. To convene regular team meetings, with an agenda and minutes.

GENERAL

To demonstrate and share Christian love and support including sharing with others the leading of worship in accordance with CrossReach policy and by ensuring all staff meetings are opened with a prayer and a bible reading.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • The Managing Coordinator will be required to be registered with Scottish Social Services Council [SSSC] and have or attain within the registration period the minimum qualification of HNC Social Care and SVQ Level 4.

Desirable:

  • Qualifications may include Degree level study in Social Work, Education or Psychology.
  • Management and Leadership qualifications  or a commitment to undertake them.
  • Full Driving Licence or commitment to achieving this within agreed timescale.

Essential:
