CrossReach Counselling offers a one-to-one counselling service to individuals, families, children and young people in a safe and confidential environment.

As a Managing Coordinator you will be responsible for the overall development and management of Counselling Service in our West and North regions.

What do I need?  A qualification at Diploma level in Counselling or relevant qualification eg Art Therapy and ideally a qualification in Training and Clinical Supervision.  To do this role you will also need experience in clinical supervision, managing and developing services and staff.  You will also need to be able to work to a broad remit where priorities can change on a daily basis.

This is a temporary post for 12 months.

Main Function

The Managing Coordinator will have responsibility for the overall development and management of the Counselling Services in the West and North regions.  They will be responsible for achieving the highest professional standards and for ensuring that CrossReach's aims, objectives and standards are met and maintained.  Through Christian leadership, they will ensure that these services reflect CrossReach's Christian ethos and mission statement.

Main Duties

  1. Provide the necessary leadership to the Services to ensure that each Service delivers professional and ethical interventions.
  2. Create the environment and culture where each Service delivers and evolves an effective, high quality service that meets client needs.
  3. Provide appropriate guidance and direction to ensure each Service is compliant with the relevant legislative ethical policy and procedural requirements, especially in relation to Child and Adult Protection.
  4. Ensure each service’s waiting list is appropriately managed, acting as the point of escalation for particular risk factors and that client expectations are managed.
  5. Maintain and develop external relationships that will extend the influence of the Counselling services and benefit the client’s needs.
  6. Maintain a small client caseload to develop and maintain your professional skills, using these to provide effective supervision and act as the point of clinical escalation for the region.
  7. Embrace and develop internal relationships across the region to capitalise on the available capabilities and support, to optimise the performance of the Counselling services across the region.
  8. Ensure the necessary information is collated and analysed so that the strategic development of the Counselling services evolves to reflect the opportunities for growth.
  9. Take the necessary action to ensure that the region’s services are delivered in line with, or exceed, the predicted financial performance.
  10. Embrace and develop internal relationships, capitalising on the available support and ensuring information is shared to allow the effective operation of CrossReach.
  11. Facilitate the regional and internal stakeholders to work in partnership to capitalise on income generation opportunities and achieve a financially sustainable region.
  12. Coordinate with both the rest of the Counselling team and the relevant internal stakeholders to ensure that the evolution of the Counselling brand occurs in a way that is consistent with CrossReach’s positioning and recognises the integrity of the individual services.
  13. Maintain a review of the physical estate of the region to ensure the optimal balance is achieved between the provision of services and financial viability.
  14. Ensuring continuity across services and deputising for the Head of Service where appropriate.
  15. Demonstrate and share Christian love and support including sharing with others the leading of worship in accordance with Crossreach policy and by ensuring all staff meetings are opened with prayer and bible reading.

Qualifications

Essential:          

  • Diploma in Counselling or other relevant qualification e.g. art therapy.
  • PSA registered.                               
  • A full driving licence and the ability to work across Scotland as required.

Desirable:          

  • A qualification in training and clinical supervision.

  • Significant post qualifying practice hours.

  • Experience of prioritising work and autonomous working.
  • Experience of creative problem solving and use of initiative.
  • Effective communication both verbal and written with the ability to persuade and influence others.
