Main Function
To provide flexible support to clients living in the community.
Main Duties
Summary of post
- To provide support and care to people with learning disabilities.
- To help create a safe, secure and supportive environment where individuals can live a lifestyle of their choosing.
Service Delivery
Involvement in the general day-to-day support of clients as determined by the management team.
Work on a rota basis involving 24 hour cover.
Provide intimate personal care to clients with physical care needs.
Administer medication.
Accompany individual clients to activities of their choice.
Encourage and support clients to undertake household tasks such as cooking and cleaning where they are capable of doing so.
Encourage clients to participate in community life and meaningful activity.
Promote choice, empowerment and citizen leadership with clients.
Follow support plan to help clients achieve identified outcomes.
Have respect for all aspects of Christian worship.
Facilitate service users to attend Christian worship (or worship of choice).

Skills and Abilities
No direct experience is necessary although experience of supporting people in their own homes is preferred.
The postholder must possess basic computer literacy skills including use of Microsoft Office and the internet for completing mandatory e-learning courses.
