Main Function

To work together with Managing Co-ordinator to ensure the overall effective management of the service and the development and co-ordination of resources in co-operation with partner organisations and the people who use it.  Ensure that the service provided reflects CrossReach’s Christian Ethos and Mission Statement.

Main Duties

  1. To ensure the provision of an environment and programmes that encourages a positive attitude to recovery from substance misuse for people who have a range of needs.
  2. Facilitating, supervising and managing staff in carrying out their duties effectively and efficiently. The Service Leader will have main supervision responsibility for ancillary staff and for support staff.
  3. To ensure that staff and service users are aware of and carry out their activities in accordance with Crossreach’s health and safety, fire and other procedures.
  4. To contribute actively to the planning and development of service provision.
  5. To support implementation of plans formed with service users and other stakeholders. This will include:-
  • Liaison with the Service Users, other agencies and individuals concerned with the support of the people who have substance misuse problems and other care needs.
  • Attendance and participation in Section Meetings and others as required.
  • Co-ordination of external and internal input to Addiction Recovery programmes.
  • Allocation of work to staff and facilitating staff development.
  1. Provide reports to the Managing Co-ordinator or other managers when requested.
  2. To undertake such administrative and recording duties as are required in accordance with CrossReach’s policy.
  3. Contribute to the development of good practice in CrossReach through participation in policy and practice development.
  4. Any other reasonable duties required by the line manager.
  5. To demonstrate and share Christian love and support including sharing with others the leading of worship in accordance with CrossReach policy and by ensuring all staff meetings are opened with prayer and Bible reading.

Qualifications

Essential:

An SVQ Level 3 in Social Care (Adults) or equivalent in Social Work, Nursing.

An addictions specific qualification.

Personal

You must have interest in and a commitment to people who are recovering

You must be able to work in a pressured and challenging environment.

As we do our work in Christ’s name the job you have applied for requires you to have a Christian faith and be able to work within and uphold our Christian Ethos.  This is an Occupational Requirement under Part 1 of Schedule 9 to the Equality Act 2010.

This post requires you to be a member of the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme and undertake the necessary vetting checks.

This post requires you to be registered with SSSC and it is your professional responsibility to ensure that you meet the standards and criteria for registration.

Skills and Abilities

Essential:

  • Postholder must possess basic computer literacy skills including use of Microsoft Office and the internet
  • Have an understanding of the nature of Addiction and range of needs presented by people with Substance Misuse problems
  • Experience of managing and developing staff
  • Experience of service development
  • Experience of involving service users in service provision and development
  • An ability to plan and manage the activities of a staff team, programmes and resources within an agreed budget
  • An ability to work co-operatively with other agencies
