Volunteering with us gives you the chance to work as part of a friendly team and will enable you to use and develop your skills in a supportive environment. At CrossReach we are committed to creating a positive culture of volunteering.

Main Function

We are looking for a volunteer to join our team to help with minor maintenance and gardening jobs.

  • You will be comfortable working mainly on your own
  • DIY skills and experience – you’re not fazed by small maintenance jobs
  • Ability to promote care and repair of a building
  • An interest in helping vulnerable people in your local area

The hours available are completely flexible. We’ll work around you and what spare time you have.

We will give you some training and a general induction linked with a member of staff, who will support you to volunteer.  Reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed

Main Duties

The areas where you can help the most could include cutting the grass, weeding flower beds, unblocking sinks, hanging curtains/a mirror/a picture, fixing a shoogly window, changing tap washers, putting up a shelf, replacing batteries in smoke alarms, building flat pack furniture or changing a light bulb.

  • Fill in an application form
  • Come and meet us for an informal chat
  • After the visit, both or either party will decide whether to proceed with the application
  • The application process involves 2 references (not necessarily from an employer), completion of a self-declaration form and Basic Disclosure/PVG certificate. These must be approved before you start.

Just as we work with clients of all faiths or none, we welcome service volunteers from all walks of life. We do ask that our service volunteers are in sympathy with our Christian ethos and values, but they are not required to share our faith.
