Volunteer Receptionist/Administrator opportunity
CrossReach Counselling East provides a wide range of therapeutic support and counselling for individuals in Edinburgh.
We are looking for volunteers to work alongside our administration team and help to provide reception cover and admin support. You will play an important role in welcoming our clients and creating a safe, friendly atmosphere whilst they wait for their appointment.
Main duties include:
- preparing counselling rooms at the start of the day
- helping to transport empty buggies up & down outside stairs
- welcoming visitors; providing tea & coffee
- responding to calls and enquiries from staff and visitors
- helping to keep welcome area clean and tidy
- other administrative duties including filing and photocopying.
The position is based in our Palmerston Place premises, 8a – 10a Palmerston Place, Edinburgh EH12 5AA. We are looking for volunteers to cover Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday mornings, 8.45am – 1.30pm approx.
This role is based at our new premises so we are looking for applicants who are reliable; flexible; happy to work independently and who are willing to be patient with us whilst we develop this role. A warm, mature and sensitive approach is key when welcoming visitors into our building. The role may suit those with some IT knowledge, who are keen to gain administrative skills or, those who wish to give something back and play their part in supporting our clients and families in small but significant ways.

We're looking for a volunteer to join our team to provide administrative and reception support.

- An interest in helping vulnerable people in your local area
- Able to follow codes of confidentiality and conduct (including Health and Safety)
- Good computer literacy skills including use of Microsoft Office. Desirable, not required.
The hours available are completely flexible. We’ll work around you and what spare time you have.
We will give you some training and a general induction linked with a member of staff, who will support you to volunteer. Reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed.
Main Duties
The areas where you can help the most include welcoming visitors, making/answering phone calls, helping on reception, filing, photocopying, helping to keep the office clean and tidy, and other administrative duties.
