Celebrating the amazing people who make a difference for CrossReach

Every day, people across Scotland step up to raise vital funds for CrossReach’s life-changing work. From sponsored walks to bake sales, from daring skydives to community coffee mornings and spreading the word of our work, each fundraiser plays a vital role in helping us care for people of all ages facing challenging times.

This page is where we shine a light on your creativity, generosity, and dedication. It’s our way of saying thank you and inspiring others to join in.

Fundraiser of the Month

Each month, we feature one outstanding fundraiser or fundraising team whose efforts have gone above and beyond for CrossReach.

Margaret

Knitting for Whiteinch

Margaret is a dedicated CrossReach supporter who has been knitting and donating her talents for the last 4 years. Through friendships with CrossReach representative formed in the church, Margaret learned about the incredible work of Whiteinch Move on Service and has been putting her skills to use for the service users and staff there.

Margaret's love of knitting grew as a way of keeping her mind occupied while relaxing after a busy day. Having been an active member of the community organising gardening groups and fundraising, Margaret finds it hard to switch off but knitting has become a therapeutic activity for her.

What inspires Margaret?

Margaret is inspired to share pure Christian love in any way she can to those she has never or may never meet and wants to show that there are more ways to support and give back than financially.

I feel you have to think outside of the box. If you give kindness, you get kindness back

Margaret recalled the first time she donated, while gift wrapping the hand knitted scarves and hats, a young man within the service asked her "Why are you wrapping them in fancy paper?". She explained that the knitting was a gift for him and other service users. Margaret was taken aback when he responded "I was brought up in care and I never received a wrapped gift". This reminded Margaret exactly how much her efforts meant to the people receiving the gifts and that it was about so much more than the knitting under all the wrapping.

Thank you so much from everyone at CrossReach, Margaret. Your compassion and dedication to creating beautiful, hand made pieces with love and bringing awareness to the work of CrossReach will have a huge impact on the lives of people who use our services across Scotland.
