Meet the Team

Meet the Team Banner

A warm welcome to our 'meet the Fundraising team' page!

We believe that generosity changes the world. Our Fundraising and Engagement team exists to connect passionate supporters with the services they care most about - leading from compassion to action, and action into lasting sustainable change.

Behind every campaign, event, funding application, and connection we create, there is a dedicated group of people that make it possible. Our Fundraising and Engagement team is made up of 10 passionate professionals - each bringing their own expertise, creativity, and heart to the work we do.

Leadership and Administration

Guiding our mission and ensuring big picture planning lets even the smallest details shine, Craig and Fiona are your first stop for everything that keeps the fundraising engine running.

Craig Wills

Craig Wills - Head of Fundraising and Engagement

Hi there, my name is Craig, and I am the Head of Fundraising and Engagement here at CrossReach.

I think we will all agree that times have been hard of late; our services have been impacted more than ever by the cost-of-living crisis and sector funding cuts. I work closely with our services and with the Fundraising team to raise vital funds through generous donations, our appeals, events, grants and legacies, all to help our fantastic services enhance, change and save lives.

Every donor means the world to us, so we want to make supporting CrossReach the most incredible and memorable experience. I’d like to think we have something for everyone, so please get in touch and let’s create something special.

I love dogs so when I'm not working, I love to spend time with them – you cant beat quality time to recharge!

Kali Thompson - Events and Community Officer

Hello, I’m Kali, and I am the Events and Community Officer for CrossReach.

I started at CrossReach as a dementia care worker before spending some time working in academia as a researcher, eventually transitioning into events and community fundraising.

My role on the team involves co-ordinating challenge event participants, organising in house events, such as the CrossReach Carol Concert, and providing bespoke supporter journeys, helping individuals to maximise their fundraising.

When not organising events, I enjoy going on scenic walks with my dog Skye, watching rugby (especially when Ireland beats Scotland) and hopping on a flight to visit my friends and family back home.

Donor Relations and Donations

Meet Stuart, Aaron, and Ross - Your go-to contacts for everything related to donations, individual giving, guild talks, and trading.

Stuart McAra

Stuart – Donor Relations Manager (Individual Giving)

Hi, I’m Stuart and I am a Donor Relations Manager.

Although I originally qualified as an engineer, I have worked in the charity and missions field in Scotland for over 20 years, primarily focusing on fundraising from both people and churches, and served as a trustee of a small charity for over 20 years.

At CrossReach, my focus is on raising funds from people all over Scotland to support a broad range of CrossReach services, including managing and writing campaigns, appeals, supporter care, fundraising with churches and the Guild, and CrossReach Trading.

Outside of work I am a dab hand in the kitchen, enjoy reading, and walks with my wee dog.

Aaron McGinn

Aaron McGinn - Donations and Database Officer

Hi! My name is Aaron and I'm the Database & Donations Officer at CrossReach.

Prior to joining CrossReach I had extensive experience working in pensions and financial technology.

In this Role, I keep tabs on all our incoming donations from our wonderful supporters and look to find patterns and ways we can engage with them further, while supporting our incredible team to do the same in their departments.

Outside of the office when I'm not strolling on a local beach or taking in an historical Scottish site, you could find me taking in a game or coaching football.

Ross Kirkwood

Ross Kirkwood – Fundraising Assistant

Hello, my name’s Ross and I work as a Fundraising Assistant.

Previous to CrossReach, I have worked in banking for 24 years and for multiple charities, such as Sight Scotland and the Scottish Wildlife Trust.

At CrossReach I process donations, tend to our database, arrange and attend Guild Talks, process orders and deal with all operational aspects of the CrossReach trading business.

When not in our lovely office in Charis House, I love to go on walks, read, listen to music, and to fish in one of the many lochs here in Scotland.

I have worked as a charity fundraiser since 1994 - Twenty years of that I’ve spent working as a trusts fundraiser, raising money for both capital and revenue projects across a range of national and local Scottish charities.

Here at CrossReach, I focus on securing funding for our Adult Services and unrestricted purposes, whilst creating innovative approaches of reaching out to our lovely funders!

When I’m not working, I enjoy golfing, photography and going on home-exchange holidays.

Sarah Mason - Trusts and Grants Manager

Hi, I’m Sarah Mason, the second Trusts and Grants Manager.

I bring almost 20 years’ experience in the charity sector, having led arts organisations and served as a trustee for several arts, literature, and social justice charities.

At CrossReach, I focus on securing funding and building partnerships to support our vital services for children and families, including early years support, parenting programmes, and community-based initiatives.

Outside of work, I love reading, crafting, and spending time near the water whenever I can.

Sara Brachat

Sara Brachat – Trusts and Grants Research Assistant

Hiya, my name is Sara, and I am a Trust and Grants Research Assistant.

I’ve spent most of my twenties in academia, particularly in the Social Research, History, and Pedagogy sphere, obtaining my Master’s just last October.

Coming to CrossReach, I am maintaining and growing our funding database, tending to administrative queries, researching trusts and grants opportunities, writing low-value applications, and establishing relationships between the organisation and potential funders.

When I’m not sat in front of the computer scouting for funding opportunities, I love to spend time with my four guinea pigs, knit, crochet, draw, or explore Scotland by bus.
