Care home chef steps out of his comfort zone to take to the dance floor

A chef traded his apron for some dancing shoes earlier this year when he took part in a glitterball charity event.
Cameron Fraser, a chef at Whinnieknowe, a care home in Nairn, was totally new to dancing when his friend and dance partner convinced him to take part in the event.
He said: “It’s something I never really imagined I would do, it was totally out of my comfort zone, but I did it and it’s something I really enjoyed.
“When it was finished I was kind of sad, thinking I want to do it again.”
Cameron, who has been a chef at Whinnieknowe for four years, is popular with the residents with his meals always going down a treat.
He said: “I’ve done alright so far! It’s quite good because I am a bit younger I have some modern recipes which I cook for them and sometimes introduce them to new food as well.
“I get quite a good response, they tend to like the change too which is great.”
While Cameron and his partner didn't win the competition, he said he’d definitely consider taking part again in the future. And he advised anyone thinking of doing something outside of their comfort zone to embrace the fear and try it.
He said: “I’d say just do it. If it’s outside your comfort zone, it’ll be a lot worse in your head than it really is. Once you get out there and do it, you might find you’ll really enjoy it.”
