Honouring Freya

Lucie Conway sitting with gifts for Toy Recycle

The CrossReach Toy Recycle is now in its 6th year.

Organised by the R and R Café, a project of our Tayside Support Service, the initiative was inspired by a little girl, Freya Skene, who decided that she wanted to give away her unwanted toys to people who didn’t have as much as her. At only 3, Freya had a huge heart for others and following her tragic death aged just 7, the R and R café decided to honour her kindness by keeping the initiative going. To date they have given over 500 toys to parents and carers for children.

This year in particular has been very hard for many and the Toy Recycle scheme is determined to help as many people as possible. They believe that no child should wake on Christmas morning with nothing.

Perhaps you are overdue a clear-out? Any unused and unwanted toys and gifts would be greatly appreciated. (Please note that soft toys can only be accepted if they are brand new.)

Donations can be made to the Toy Recycle scheme by contacting Tayide Support Services on 01382 644431 or Lucie Conway on 07384836092. Please leave a message if there is no answer.

Anyone wishing to use the scheme can refer themselves on either number above or email Lucille.conway@crossreach.org.uk.
An appointment system will be in place to adhere to current Government guidelines on social distancing.

The event will be held on Friday 18th December at The Friary, Tullideph Road, Dundee, DD2 2PN
