Moderator of The Church of Scotland helps re-tile Kirkhaven wall
31 January 2025
The Moderator of The Church of Scotland swapped his Church of Scotland attire for his toolkit as he re-tiled part of a wall at the Kirkhaven Project in Glasgow.
Rt Rev Dr Shaw J Paterson visited the service, which offers accommodation, support and social care for homeless adults with complex needs, on Wednesday (January 29) to carry out the work.
The Moderator returned to the service having first seen that the wall was in need of re-tiling during a visit in December last year.
Taking him about two hours to complete, Dr Paterson, alongside his friend Sandy, did a fantastic job and even incorporated in his own special Moderator tile into the wall.
Service manager for Kirkhaven, Amanda Rae, expressed her delight at how the wall looked after completion.
Reflecting on the work, Dr Paterson said:
Yesterday I was able to return to CrossReach's Kirkhaven Project in Glasgow to help re-tile part of their training kitchen. When I visited them in December I noticed that some of the tiles needed to be re-done and had offered to re-do them.I took part of a day to switch off, relax and help out alongside my good friend Sandy. The Kirkhaven Project supports homeless adults and clearly positively impacts those who use their service.”
