St Margaret's - a care home with an emphasis on 'home'

Residents, staff and members of the CrossReach Older People Services’ senior management team were glad to have the opportunity to welcome the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, The Rt Hon Lord Wallace of Tankerness QC (Jim Wallace) to St Margaret’s House this morning [28.10.2021].

Holding tightly to the current COVID-19 guidelines for Care Home visits Rt Hon Lord Wallace was clearly very interested in spending time with residents and staff.

Brenda Fraser, Head of Service told us afterwards that, “It was lovely to have The Moderator visit the home. It was great for the Senior Management Team to have the chance to talk about stories of the incredible commitment and dedication of staff that arose during the intense months of COVID-19, and to share the ongoing challenges they face by the pandemic’s continued impact. He expressed real interest in spending time with both residents and staff and it was great to have him lead devotions - the residents were clearly engaged and it was obvious that they enjoyed their time with him.”

Talking to camera, Lord Wallace described the visit as being “hugely worthwhile” and said “…the staff here are an example of what caring should be,” before adding “…anyone who wants a career or even to help in a caring community would find this a really rewarding place to work.”
