Summer in full bloom in June at CrossReach
11 July 2025
Summer has been well underway at our services in June with lots of fun activities and celebrations being enjoyed by service users, staff and the wider community.
Here’s a quick look back at just some of the things that happened last month.
We kicked the month off by celebrating our volunteers for National Volunteers Week. We heard from lots of different staff about what those who volunteer at our services bring to CrossReach and we couldn’t be more grateful for the amazing work all our dedicated volunteers do.
We also had some fantastic runners take part in the Aberdeen Kiltwalk to help raise funds for CrossReach. Participants powered through rain, thunder and an 18-mile trek to complete the run. What an amazing achievement!
A fun, productive and informative Strategy Engagement Day was enjoyed in Inverness, which provided an opportunity for our service managers and partners in the region to hear how CrossReach is looking to the future with optimism, ambition and most importantly, love.
We also got to hear a wonderful story of how our Make a Difference Fund helped a service user at our Glasgow Recovery Services who was able to use the fund to purchase a bike to help him get around. He said: "The bike gives me freedom… I feel the best I’ve been since I was a teenager.”
It's wonderful to hear how the Make a Difference Fund in our Glasgow Recovery Services, is impacting the lives of those we support.
Staff and service users at our Glasgow Recovery Services also attended the Glasgow City Health and Social Care Partnership ADP Networking event at the City Chambers & the South Community Recovery Network - SCRN ROSC event to talk about the service and what it offers.
Residents at The Elms have had a busy month, including spending plenty of time in the garden and visiting alpacas on a day trip!
Over at Balmedie House, residents have been kept busy with plenty of fun activities and were delighted to again be visited by local therapet Sydney.
Early in the month, Newington Trinity Church held a weekend of fundraising in aid of CrossReach’s Palmerston Place service. The committee also organised a wonderful afternoon tea full of delicious bakes. During a Sunday service, the committee spoke about the work of CrossReach’s perinatal mental health service and had the great idea to display toys and teddys on chairs to represent the counselling rooms and encourage donations.
Across the weekend, the incredible team raised over £1,000 for Palmerston Place!
We also want to celebrate a group of pupils from Trinity Academy Edinburgh who won £3,000 for CrossReach in this year’s Youth and Philanthropy Initiative (YPI) competition!
After researching CrossReach and visiting our services, the boys showed their creativity by designing a video game which represented the various issues our counselling teams support people to overcome.
