The Old Lodge and Millmuir Farm receive praise following inspection

We were delighted to learn that two of our children's homes received positive feedback following a care inspection.

The Old Lodge and Millmuir Farm, both located in the Stirlingshire area, support a small number of children between them.

Inspectors carried out an unannounced inspection in May which they described as a "promise assurance inspection."

"It focusses on the key areas that are essential to upholding children and young people's right to be safe and be at the centre of their care. We report on them under the promise foundation headings of; 'Voice', 'Care', and 'People. No new evaluations (grades) have been awarded"

Under the three key categories, both homes scored very positively,

Voice

Inspectors found that: "Young people's voices were at the heart of their care in The Old Lodge and Millmuir. Their right to safety, nurture and compassion was skilfully balanced with a right to stay connected to the people who mattered most and to the communities they had previously lived in."

One young person told inspectors: "I didn't want to leave my family but if I had to live anywhere else, it would be here because they all really care".

Care 

The homes were praised for the individual care given to each young person.

The report said: "The emphasis on building safe and trusting relationships at each young person's pace ensured they felt understood and supported them to navigate challenges, build resilience and try new things. This bespoke approach allowed young people to flourish and had a significantly positive impact on their health and wellbeing."

One social worker told inspectors: "My young person has thrived in their care and has been loved unconditionally." 

People

Both homes were praised for "exceptional leadership across both houses"

A young person told inspectors: "They all get me and I know they will support me in the way I need it, whenever I need it."
