World Alzheimer’s Day: Understanding The Facts

Every year, CrosReach alongside organisations around the world join hands on September 21 to raise awareness about Alzheimer’s disease.

World Alzheimer’s Day’s highlights a global effort to raise awareness and challenge the stigma around Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia.

What is Alzheimer's?

The word dementia is used to describe a group of symptoms – including memory loss, confusion, and communication difficulties. Alzheimer's disease is the most common cause of dementia. It’s important to know that Alzheimer’s is not a normal part of ageing, but the chance of developing the disease increases as we get older.
