Services offered at Whinnieknowe
- Care homes for older people
The house is about half a mile from the town centre and one mile from the harbour, with good bus and train services.
Accommodation you can feel at home in
Each of our 24 single rooms is en-suite and decorated to a high standard. Residents are welcome to bring some of their own furniture and pictures to make their room their own.
We have three comfortable communal lounges, a conservatory and a dementia-friendly garden.
Your individual care plan
Once you’ve secured a place at Whinnieknowe, we’ll sit down with you, your family and other agencies to put together an individual care plan. This ensures we are offering care and experiences that match your particular interests, knowledge, skills and expectations.
Community involvement
We have local volunteer drivers to take residents on social outings and to clubs and groups outside the care home. We also arrange for people to come in to Whinnieknowe – from hairdressers and storytellers to medical professionals and clergy.
WOW – Wee Ones at Whinnieknowe
Always on the lookout for innovative initiatives, we recently launched a project to bring children and older people together and spend time enjoying craft activities. The interaction between the ages, the communication and the joy expressed were everything we hoped for and more.
Family involvement
We encourage family and friends to visit or stay in touch by phone and video calls. We operate an open door policy so you can visit whenever it suits you and your loved one.
