A 34 bedroom specialist care home for older people with dementia.
Originally built in 1930 and set in extensive landscaped grounds, Williamwood House was extended when it became a residential care home.
It can now accommodate 34 older people with dementia. The extension, which houses 80% of the bedrooms, is designed in the shape of a square horseshoe – a design that encourages residents to walk around the house without fear of getting lost.

Accommodation you can feel at home in
All bedrooms are single and have ensuite facilities. They benefit from having enough space for a sitting area.
We encourage residents to bring some of their own furniture, pictures or photographs. This allows them to personalise their living space and make it familiar to them.
Individual Care Plan
We will create this in consultation with the resident as well as a close relative or carer. The plan will outline the person’s distinctive expectations and take account of their particular needs.
Family Involvement
We encourage families to become involved in the daily life of the house as much as possible. Williamwood House has a lively Friends group who visit regularly, adding to the warmth and friendship of our home.
Community Involvement
We have a community volunteer who supports residents to go out for morning coffee. The local Church of Scotland Guild regularly visits to entertain and serve teas. Additionally, we hold inter-denominational Sunday Services, which residents can attend if they wish.
From time to time, students from local schools come in to spend time with the staff and gain experience of the care environment. This has been extremely rewarding for everyone involved.
