At CrossReach we pride ourselves on offering a wide range of high standard volunteering opportunities, from volunteer receptionists to creche volunteers and counsellors; as well as opportunities to volunteer in our older people services, befriending and supporting with mealtimes. Our desire is that our volunteering experiences will benefit a volunteer’s need for growth and contribution to society; whilst also valuing the significant part they play in our services.
Volunteer Opportunities throughout CrossReach
- Admin & Support Volunteers – help keeping things running smoothly behind the scenes in our Admin and IT departments or help with our front of house, welcoming service users and visitors to our services, dealing with enquiries and ensuring a warm welcome is offered to all.
- Counsellor / Therapist Volunteers – qualified and trainee counsellors can support our counselling services in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Inverness and Moray; to provide high quality counselling and therapeutic services to those in need, whilst volunteers accrue clinical
hours.
- Driving & Escort Volunteers – volunteers can opt to drive our buses ensuring services users attend their appointments or act as Taxi Buddies supporting children under 12 to attend our Sunflower Garden service in Edinburgh.
- Creche Volunteers - Perinatal services in Edinburgh and Glasgow offer creche support to those clients without access to childcare, to enable clients to fully engage in their counselling session, knowing their baby is being well looked after. Volunteers support creche staff to care for small groups of babies and pre-school children in fun and nurturing environments.
- Activity Volunteers – bring joy, creativity and fun to those we support. We use creative arts; music; gentle exercise and reminiscing activities across our Older People, Adults and Children & families services.

- Friends Group Volunteers – support our Older People’s services by bringing communities together though events and fundraising
- Befrienders – provide companionship and emotional support at our Prison Visitor Centre; children’s services and through peer mentoring opportunities.
