Perinatal mental health challenges, including anxiety and depression, affect a significant number of women and men during pregnancy and beyond. CrossReach has developed training specifically for practitioners to further develop their skills in working with those affected by perinatal mental health challenges. We offer both an introductory 'Understanding of Perinatal Mood Disorder' (3.5h) and the follow on 'Working with Perinatal Mood Disorders: a Counselling Skills Approach' (20h over 5 weeks)

Course Components
- Understanding Perinatal Mood Disorder provides a half day covering all aspects of ante and post natal depression in both men and women.
- Working with Perinatal Mood Disorder: a Counselling Skills Approach offers a practical application of this knowledge for mental health, third sector and social care workers, equipping them to use counselling skills in this field. Particular focus is placed on developing self awareness, working ethically and appropriate boundaries.

Understanding Perinatal Mood Disorders
- 3.5 hour training programme (e.g. 1pm to 4:30pm)
- Delivered by two trainers
- Up to 15 participants
This course is tailored for all volunteers / staff interested in Perinatal Mental Health.
CPD certificates and packs with up to date information on perinatal mental health provided to participants on completion of training.
Individual cost: £130 per person (£105 per person concession / charities)
Group cost* £1730 (£1465 for charities) Max 15 participants.
2. Working with Perinatal Mood Disorders: a Counselling Skills Approach
- 20 hour Counselling Skills-based Communication Programme
- Up to 15 participants
- 5 x 3.5 hour sessions delivered over 5 weeks
- Additional 2.5 hour online training as a blended part of the programme
This course is tailored for those working directly with parents and families during the perinatal period.
Please note that participants must have attended UPMD training and must attend all sessions
Individual cost: £620 per person or £600 per person (concession / charities)
