67th wedding anniversary at South Beach House

Excitement and joy resounded through South Beach House as staff and residents celebrated Mr and Mrs Miller’s 67th wedding anniversary. Douglas (Dougie) and Amelia (Milly) Miller met at school in Glasgow when they were 15 years old. Their love grew steadily, and they tied their nuptials three years later. According to their three children, they have always done everything together. In the late 1950’s, Dougie was a bus driver and Milly was a bus conductor. They both worked in the same post office in the 60's, with Dougie a postman and Milly a cleaner. They both used this experience in the early 70's to become civil servants which they continued with until their retirement.

Mr Miller moved to South Beach House in March 2023. He was later joined by Milly and Oscar in December - just in time to celebrate their anniversary together. We hear they are thrilled to be reunited again at the home. It has also been incredible to have Oscar move in as he has been a great help and comfort to Douglas throughout his journey with dementia.
