What is a story teller?

A story teller is someone who has worked with a CrossReach service, and is happy to share their experience. This could be through a campaign, social media post, leaflet or video.

As a story teller, you have the power and remain in control of every detail from start to finish. It’s your experience that brings real situations to life, allowing a potential supporter, donor or person in need to understand how CrossReach’s support can help enhance, change or save a life.

Why do we need story tellers?

Hearing real examples of how CrossReach services support people across Scotland is key to raising vital funds and awareness, so we can continue to support more people in the future. Stories have the ability to motivate and inspire where a statistic may not. As humans, we find it easier to connect through emotion, bringing to life someone else's experience by feeling empathy. What’s the process?

Before - Our friendly engagement team would firstly love to have a chat.
It’s a great way to talk through the 'story teller' journey, find out how we can help you share your experience in a way you feel comfortable, keep full control and answer any questions you may have.

During - If you like the sound of getting involved, we then work with you to draft your story - usually a bit of a brain dump using our prompts to help start off. We then continue to work with you one to one to refine.
Its really important to us to not only make you feel fully supported, sharing only what you are comfortable sharing, but also to plan where it would be seen/ how it would be shared (E.G. social media, our website, an email to our fantastic supporters).

When you are happy with the wording, the creative part starts! We can use your own images or example versions, give you free reign to choose colours, style, layouts as much as you like and build the final versions.

After - We have a branded story you are proud of. We will again work with you to launch, sharing where you were happy for us to with the goal to inspire and motivate people to support our services. We will also keep you updated on progress, updating you all the way so you still feel in full control.
