Post Qualifying Certificate in Counselling Children and Young People

There are a few places still available on our COSCA validated 4 module Post Qualifying Certificate in Counselling Children and Young People. This course is aimed at qualified counsellors with a desire to meet the mental health needs of Children and Young People.

The Scottish Government have regularly highlighted their desire for ‘Scotland to be the best place in the world to grow up’.  Their intention is to invest over £60 million in additional school counselling services across all of Scotland. They plan to create around 350 counsellor posts in school education across Scotland to ensure every secondary school has counselling services. The aim is for the additional counselling services to be in place by September 2020. However, there is a gap in the number of suitably qualified and appropriately experienced counsellors to take up these positions.

Here at CrossReach, we believe that our COSCA validated Post Qualifying Certificate in Counselling CYP is a vital element in bridging the skills gap. This course means that Scotland’s children and young people have access to well qualified, confident, committed and collaborative counselling professionals that can help families and communities flourish. There is an increasing market for counsellors qualified to work with this age group so it can be an economically viable as well as highly satisfying area in which to be qualified to work.
