Respite care offers older people and their families a way to enjoy a change of scene and routine.

Being a full-time carer is very demanding. The idea of taking a holiday or looking after our own needs for a while can leave us feeling anxious and guilty. But it doesn’t need to be like that.

At CrossReach, we offer respite care in all our care homes, including those that specialise in dementia care. The idea is that an older person can stay with us for an agreed number of nights, where they will get the very best care and enjoy a range of activities and experiences alongside fellow residents.

We work with guests and families to tailor each stay, creating a personal care plan that reflects their interests, abilities and daily routines.

Respite care is often the first step towards moving into a care home permanently. This ‘try before you buy’ approach can provide immense reassurance to family members who can see their loved one enjoying life in a loving and caring environment.
