What we do
At CrossReach we offer loving care to people of all ages across Scotland, supporting them to live life to the full whatever their circumstances. We aim to show the practical side of our Christian faith by reflecting Christian love to those we support, through our leadership, management and working relationships.
We have provided high-quality social care for over 155 years. During that time we have worked hard to understand the needs of the people who turn to us for help, developing our services with them which have literally changed thousands of lives for the better.
Today we are one of Scotland’s largest care providers , with experience across a broad range of services. We are still growing, learning and improving, thanks to the incredible people we have the privilege to support, and all those who support us.
In the last year, we have provided one-to-one support to over 14,000 people including:
- 1,949 children, adults and families through our counselling and mental health services
- 237 through our early years support services
- 265 through our substance use and recovery services
- 243 children and adults with disabilities
- 59 children through our residential homes for care experienced children
- 125 people experiencing homelessness
- 834 older people through our care homes and dementia support groups
- Over 5,000 through our justice and prison support services
Influencing and advocacy
We advocate for people who use our services, using our positions on various sector and Scottish Government groups responsible for Social Care across Scotland, to create lasting change. These groups include:
- Coalition of Care Providers in Scotland (CCPS) across various groups.
- Scottish Government and parliamentary groups
- The Scottish Social Services Scotland (SSSC)
- National Education Scot (NES)
- Scottish Government Residential Rehabilitation Development Group
- Crisis and Stabilisation Working Group
- SRC Residential Rehab Providers Forum
- See Me Scotland
- Everyone Home Collective
Our 5-year strategy focusses on 3 key areas:
The people we support We want people supported by CrossReach to feel respected, listened to and have their rights upheld. We want them to be fully involved in decisions affecting their lives and to have control over the support we give them.
Our workforce We want our employees to feel they are properly valued for their professionalism, skills and expertise and can develop in their career. We want them to feel involved in decision making and be able to influence their working conditions and improving services.
Strong and sustainable services. We want high-quality, financially secure services that respond to need and are well resourced and environmentally sustainable. They should be able to innovate, adapt and grow to meet current and future needs.
Our policy priorities:
- Invest in early intervention and prevention to help people stay well, safe, fulfilled and live as independently as they choose.
- Ensure fair work and fair pay for the social care workforce, with the training and support needed to provide high-quality care. · Address inequalities linked to poverty and geography that affect health and access to support.
- Involve people who access services in their design and delivery- so that they are better able to deliver what matters to individuals and to society
- Provide sustainable funding for third sector social care organisations based on fair funding principles so they can deliver excellent, values based care for people across of Scotland.
The Church of Scotland’s Social Care Council
The Church's Social Care Council is accountable for the work of CrossReach. Its remit is to provide social care services and specialist resources in Christ’s name to further the caring work of the Church to people in challenging circumstances. It also helps to identify areas of need and guides the Church in new approaches to relevant problems in society as well as responding on issues arising in the Council's areas of concern.
