Salary is pro rata of 38.5 hours per week.

Main Function

To conduct and support with research to the successful identification, cultivation and stewardship of trusts and foundations (hereafter referred to as “trusts”)

Reporting to the Trusts and Foundations Manager and working closely with other Fundraising and Engagement Team members, you will help to identify potential trusts for CrossReach.

Main Duties

  1. Research and develop a “prospect pool” of grant making trusts with the capacity and inclination to support CrossReach and its key services.
  2. Create briefings which outline research on potential trusts, assessing their funding priorities and the eligibility of CrossReach services.
  3. Create timely updates on the progress and next steps for the prospect pool for the Trusts and Foundations Manager in the first instance. Keep accurate records and a timeline of reports due to funders. Communicate with staff (particularly from services) to gather relevant information for these reports and keep them updated.
  4. Create and maintain a robust pipeline of prospective donors to inform the case load of the Trusts and Foundations Manager and, where appropriate, the rest of the Fundraising and Engagement team.
  5. To ensure that all data generated for the above purposes is GDPR compliant and accurately recorded in the relevant locations.
  6. To record any Income received in the Team’s relevant folders and The Raiser’s Edge and communicate this with other staff members as required.
  7. Work with the Trusts and Foundations Manager to create a stewardship plan and follow through on any cultivation correspondence necessary; for example, thank you letters or organisational updates.
  8. Review Income and Expenditure Budgets for core services to identify funding gaps and research funding on this basis. Update/record this in the relevant folders.
  9. Respond to other tasks on an ad hoc basis as requested by the Trusts and Foundations Manager, the Head of Service -Fundraising and other staff as required.
  10. Requirement to travel to other locations on an irregular and ad hoc basis

Qualifications

Essential

Educated to Degree level – any discipline

Personal

Have respect for all aspects of Christian worship.

Skills and Abilities

Essential:

  • Knowledge of the fundraising landscape in Scotland and beyond.
  • Experience writing funding briefings.
  • Knowledge of data protection and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to generate and follow leads and make evidence-based recommendations.
  • Proficiency in all MS Office packages with experience of using a CRM system such as The Raiser’s Edge.
  • Respect for the Christian ethos of CrossReach, its supporters, staff, volunteers and clients.
  • Member of the Chartered Institute of Fundraising (or expressing a willingness to join at CrossReach’s expense).

Desirable:

  • Experience of working in the voluntary sector.
  • Two years’ experience of fundraising research.
  • Experience of working with trusts.
  • Experience of customer/supporter cultivation activity.
