Pool comp tension at Morven Day Services

Two men holding up trophies at a pool table

Tensions were high at Moven Day Services recently as best friends Neil and Eddie went head-to-head in the final round of the Bill Paterson Memorial Trophy.

Welcomed back by services users and staff alike this was the first time the pool competition had been held since the lifting of the pandemic restrictions and the well-attended event saw everyone treated to a nail-biting finish.

In the last and deciding game, Neil potted all his balls apart from the black - could Eddie avoid being 'grannied' by Neil? In an exciting come back, Eddie managed to pot six of his seven balls leaving only one more ball and the black. To gasps from the watching crowd, Eddie missed his last ball and Neil took the victory by potting the black.

Happily, Neil and Eddie are still best friends! They have attended the mental wellbeing centre regularly on a Tuesday for nearly seven years. They commented:

“The support we receive is truly appreciated and was essential though the Covid 19 pandemic.”

The annual pool competition is held in memory of Bill Paterson, a gentleman who attended the service regularly for many years and who’s main passion was pool. Bill was very grateful for the support he received at Morven and got involved in organising activities for other service users and taking part in fundraising events for the service.
