CrossReach recognises the incredible life of faith, dedication and service of Queen Elizabeth II and we were sorry to hear the news of her death.

It has been our privilege to welcome her to our own services during the course of her reign. The Church of Scotland’s Life and Work magazine reported on the Queen and Duke of Edinburgh’s visit to the newly opened The Walter & Joan Gray care home on Scalloway in 1969.

The Church of Scotland has published prayers and worship material suitable for use through the period of national mourning. The following is an excerpt from a prayer issued by the Rt Rev Dr Iain Greenshields, Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland:

“We praise you for her life,
so rich in years and in service,
for her unwavering commitment to country, commonwealth, and every generation.
And for her trust in Jesus Christ,
her devotion to the church, and her respect for other faiths,
receive our thanks today.
May she rest in peace and let light shine upon her.”
