Specialist residential care for 30 older people with a diagnosis of dementia.

Set in a quiet suburban area in Elderslie, at the foot of Gleniffer Braes, Adams House offers a specialised service to people who have been diagnosed as having dementia and who can no longer live safely at home.

Our aim is to help those who have this debilitating and degenerative illness to take charge of their lives, as far as is possible, so individuals can maintain their independence, dignity and self-respect.

We also provide support to families, who can be hard hit by the diagnosis and its effect on their loved one.

Accommodation you can feel at home in
Our 30 single rooms all have en suite toilet facilities. We encourage residents to bring furnishings and personal items if they wish, to make their surroundings more familiar and homely.

There are several lounges where service users can relax or interact with others. The building is light and airy with easy access to our spacious, landscaped gardens.

Individual Care Plan
At Adams House each resident is treated very much as an individual. On admission we take a full life history so that we can compile a suitable and bespoke care plan. This care plan is then used to offer appropriate activities and help each resident to obtain the best quality of life possible.

Family involvement
We greatly value and encourage family participation in care planning, activities and outings.  Friends and relatives are welcome at any time and make an important contribution to life in the house. We have a guest room that is available, free of charge, for visitors who live at a distance.

Community involvement
It’s very important for residents to maintain links with the community. So we’re delighted to help them attend clubs or groups they previously took part in, or encourage them to phone friends and relatives on a regular basis.

For the same reason, Adams House operates an open visiting policy, promoting a homely atmosphere for everyone.

Activities
As a specialised dementia service, we know how vital it is for residents to stay active and stimulated. We operate a full activity programme, with activities planned to take every individuals’ needs, like, dislikes and dementia stage into consideration.

We have a mini bus that can be used for day trips, whether to the theatre, shops or places of local interest.

For those who are at the stage of illness that community activities are no longer possible, varied activities such as the hairdresser, chiropodist, entertainers and therapeutic services are brought into Adams House.
