Supporting the Recovery Community

Tayside Support Services in Dundee have been able to continue offering outreach support to those in the recovery community through collaborative working with We Are Here For You (formerly Addaction) and Aldi.

The service was approached by a We Are Here For You staff member and asked if they could use some free tablets they received from Amazon. There are now three tablets in the community helping those who previously did not have access to online support to attend virtual recovery meetings.

Manager Nan Boyd has been promoting online recovery groups, both at the Restore and Revive Café and The Friary. Both groups have seen an increase in numbers and virtual meetings are hosting up to 15 people.

Thanks to Aldi, who have recently been giving out financial donations to replace their Neighbourly Project, the service received enough to buy mobile phones and SIM cards. One of the phones commissioned has been left in a local hostel where residents can use it privately to call for emotional support and encouragement.

Nan said that she wanted to thank all her staff for their work in keeping people together.
